Nota d'usoI sostantivi come team sono chiamati collettivi perché indicano un gruppo di persone. In inglese possono essere seguiti dal verbo al singolare o al plurale, a seconda del contesto e di ciò che vuole esprimere chi parla. In generale, se si pensa al sostantivo in modo impersonale, si sceglie il singolare: The team is now complete, ora la squadra è al completo. Se invece si pensa alle singole persone che fanno cose diverse all'interno del gruppo, si sceglie il plurale: The team are playing well at the moment, in questo momento la squadra sta giocando bene. In ambito sportivo, in inglese britannico i nomi delle squadre sono quasi sempre seguiti dal verbo al plurale: Manchester United are winning one nil, il Manchester United sta vincendo uno a zero. In inglese americano, invece, si preferisce il verbo al singolare, a meno che il nome della squadra non sia un plurale: The Lakers are winning by two points, i Lakers stanno vincendo per due punti. -

HRa regular meeting between managers or supervisors and their teams to exchange information and ideas. The idea of team briefing evolved from the concept of briefing groups which was developed in the United Kingdom in the 1960s and promoted by the Industrial Society as a means of communicating systematically with managers and employees throughout an organization. The goal was to reduce misunderstandings and rumors and increase cooperation, employee commitment, and team building. •• Итак, речь идет о героях комиксов серии Peanuts. В американском футболе гол «с поля» забивается игроком, для которого другой игрок (в данном случае Lucy) придерживает овальный мяч на земле. Если в последний момент мяч убирается, то бьющий с разбега теряет равновесие и действительно падает на спину. Так что можно понимать это выражение как подвох и даже подлость. Но можно посмотреть на это и с другой стороны. Чарли Браун, как сказали бы в аналогичной ситуации по-русски, опять наступает на грабли. Конечно, рекомендовать это как перевод вряд ли можно – ведь у слушающего появляется соблазн развития метафоры. Но для понимания это сравнение полезно.
•• Остается вопрос о статусе этого выражения. Что это – реалия, крылатое выражение, аллюзия? Или вошедшее в язык фразеологическое сочетание? Судя по отсутствию этого выражения в словарях, последнее – вряд ли. Но если начнет работать механизм языковой моды, то переход в категорию фразеологизма может произойти довольно быстро.
